Wondering if this is available to download the RDS logfiles by Boto library?
Need some info around it pls
Boto currently supports the 2013-05-15 version of the RDS API, while the latest is 2013-09-09. It will need to be updated to add the call to get log files, described here: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/APIReference/API_DownloadDBLogFilePortion.html
Pull requests adding the feature are welcome, but should include basic tests. As time permits a core developer may do the update if nobody submits a pull request.
I am just wondering if this feature is included in recent release. I am just an user looking for this download file if available.
I'm afraid this hasn't been updated yet. It is planned to update boto to the latest RDS API at some point in the future. Until then, please take a look at the AWS CLI and the example I posted in #1993.
The following responded from the AWS Tech Support:
"At this time it is not possible to download RDS logs via the RDS API. They can however be downloaded using the RDS CLI using the rds-download-db-logfile command, as shown at the bottom of the page here..."
I'm curious to know is there is any functionality added to download the log file from RDS instance.
I see a way to read the log file content. But, at times the log files contains unexpected data and the boto is unable to read that.
In that case, can we have an option to download the file directly instead of reading the content ?
@parasavelli if you just want to download the log to a file then using the AWS CLI is probably a better option. See my previous comment above.
