Cygwin Instructions

  1. Run Cygwin's setup.exe application and install the latest versions of the following packages:
    • ruby: Interpreted object-oriented scripting language
    • make: The GNU version of the 'make' utility
    • gcc4-core: C compiler
    • libmysqlclient-devel: MySQL database client library (development)
    • openssl-devel: The OpenSSL development environment
  2. Get and install RubyGems:
  3. Get and install RSQL:
    • gem install rsql
  4. Run it!
    • rsql

Native Windows Instructions

[These instructions may no longer work properly as they have not been tested with RSQL v0.2.0 or later.]

  1. Get and install Ruby:
    • Probably best to stick with 1.8.x for now.
    • Easiest is to use the installer.
    • http://www.ruby-lang.org/en/downloads/
    • Be sure to check "Add Ruby executables to your PATH" during installation.
  2. Get and install RubyGems:
  3. Get and install RSQL:
    • gem install rsql
  4. Run it!
    • rsql
