Gypsy

Gypsy frees your custom fields from their field groups, enabling you to assign them directly to your weblogs.

Gone are the days of creating duplicate fields across multiple field groups, and near-duplicate field groups thanks to little differences.

It is developed by Brandon Kelly.

Installation

  1. Download and unzip the latest version
  2. Upload extensions/ext.gypsy.php to system/extensions
  3. Upload language/english/lang.gypsy.php to system/language/english
  4. Enable Gypsy in the Extensions Manager

Configuration

From Gypsy's Settings page, you can set the following preference:

Check for Gypsy updates?

Powered by LG Addon Updater, Gypsy can call home and check to see if there's a new update available.

Usage

You can turn any of your custom fields into “gypsies” from the Edit Custom Field page. Find the preference labelled “Is this a gypsy field?” and set it to Yes. Then choose which weblogs you want your field to appear in from the multi-select box that appears below.

Requirements

Gypsy requires ExpressionEngine 1.6.5 (build 20081031) or later.
