Description

Additional panel shows on windows machines which take up a lot of screen real estate while watching videos. This should ideally be removed.
See:
https://www.reddit.com/r/brave_browser/comments/cbx93y/posting_again_anyone_else_having_this_problem_not/
https://www.reddit.com/r/brave_browser/comments/bplq1o/option_to_remove_windows_10_volume_osd_overlay/

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Use windows 10
  2. Open a youtube video
  3. Adjust volume

Actual result:

Big box next to volume slider
image

Expected result:

Nothing should be there

Reproduces how often:

Easily reproduced

Miscellaneous Information:

This seems to be connected to the #hardware-media-key-handling flag in chromium. If you try this on Canary, it is more built out than chromium. On Brave it appears to be an unfinished feature.

Work-around, courtesy of @dmoa 😄

Ok, got it working after looking at this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/brave_browser/comments/cbx93y/posting_again_anyone_else_having_this_problem_not/

If that link dies, here is the tutorial for anyone else:

  1. Type brave://flags into the address bar
  2. Search for a flag called #hardware-media-key-handling
  3. Disable the flag and relaunch the browser when prompted.
