The following synapses work fine

from brian2 import *

G = NeuronGroup(1, '''dv/dt = 0*Hz : 1
                      v2 = 2*v : 1
                      v3 = 1.5*v2 : 1''', threshold='False')
S = Synapses(G, G)

But no longer when a synaptic pathway is created (i.e. with an on_pre or on_post statement -- it does not matter what it contains). This has to do with the somewhat complicated handling of linking to subexpressions, I'll look into this.
