If zz doesn't exist:

> diffobj::diffStr(quote(zz + 1), quote(zz + 3))
Error in str(zz + 1, max.level = NA) : object 'zz' not found
Error in .local(target, current, ...) : 
  Failed attempting to get text representation of object: object 'zz' not found
