F**k me sideways, this is caused by the setTimeout script for the "..." animation in the header.

No actual idea, just guesswork. Chrome seems to not like timeouts in the background. I guess faye creates some timeouts to do it's thing, and perhaps chrome only runs one timeout at a time, causing the dot animation to keep running and faye to disconnect.
