Describe the bug

When using database sessions, it's very difficult to track the number of logins.

Expected behavior

It should be easier to track who is logged in an for how long.

Don't save the session unless the user has been authenticated otherwise the session breaks.

There were specifically issues around maintaining sessions due to the on duplicate key update not updating the session data.
