This was discussed on a recent live stream.

This proposal incorporates several issues that will make the CanJS Devtools much more valuable and much easier to use.

Phase 1 - Get the ViewModel Editor right

Phase 2 - Quick cleanup of Queues Stack

Phase 3 - Figure out what we want to do with the Components Tree View

  • Create a rough design
  • Create a prototype
  • Get feedback on prototype
  • Create new prototype
  • User Test
  • Finalize Design

Phase 4 - Implement Component Tree View

Phase 5 - Make the Bindings Graph useful

Just a note on https://github.com/canjs/canjs/blob/master/docs/can-guides/topics/debugging.md: I found by trial-and-error that <script src="https://unpkg.com/can/dist/global/core.js"></script> does not include CanJS devtools while <script src="https://unpkg.com/can/dist/global/can.all.js"></script> does. That isn't covered in debugging.md.
