Have you tried using a single-partition fat hard drive? Or perhaps a USB Thumb?

This might be due to some incompatibility between HBC and OTW because of libogc
changes. But then again, I haven't changed anything on my Wii and it still
runs just fine with the newest HBC...

I installed OTW on a SD-card and it worked well. But when I put the same
SD-card in a card-reader and put that in the wii USB port it wont start. The
sdcard is singel-partition fat and the hdd is fat and wbfs.

I can verify the issue. To phrase it more accurately, it seems like Tyrian
will run off of an SD card, but not a USB device. If I do a fresh install on
my SD card and try to start it, it works fine; however, if I install it on a
USB hard drive, remove the SD card, and run it from the hard drive, it
immediately crashes back to the homebrew channel.

Does anyone know why the game runs normally from SD (It actually show the main
first logo screens with music and the main menu screen) but it crashes and
return to HBC after the "Start New Game" option is selected?
