Step 1 – Check that nothing is missing

Parts:

  • 30x Switch EVQ-P0E07K
  • 30x Diode 1N4148-B
  • 1x Arduino Leonardo
  • 1x Alarm Cable White 12 Core 1,1 m
  • 2x 3mm LED
  • 2x 1K resistor, ¼ W
  • 1x 13 pins Bend Male Dupont Header
  • 2x 12 pins Bend Male Dupont Headers
  • 4x 3 pins Bend Male Dupont Headers
  • 2x 7 pins Stackable Bend Male Dupont Headers (like the normal bend ones, but with both sides being long, to connect two female sides together without soldering)
  • 1x 13 pins Female to Female Dupont Headers Cable
  • 2x 3 pins Female to Female Dupont Headers Cable
  • 24x Female Dupont Crimp
  • 4x 6 pins Dupont Crimp Housings
  • 4x Steno PCBs
  • 20x Self-threading screws (2,9mm x 13mm)
  • 4x Self-threading screws (2,9mm x 9mm)
  • 3x Self-threading screws (2,9mm x 6mm)
  • 1x Anti-slip pad
  • 1x Left frame (this and the following can be 3D printed)
  • 1x Right frame
  • 2x Consonants keys
  • 2x Vowels keys
  • 2x Number keys
  • 2x Bar Button Spacer

Step 2 – Assemble PCBs

Parts:

  • 30x Switch EVQ-P0E07K
  • 30x Diode 1N4148-B
  • 2x 3mm LED
  • 2x 1K resistor, ¼ W
  • 1x 13-pins Bend Male Dupont Header
  • 2x 12 pins Bend Male Dupont Headers
  • 4x 3 pins Bend Male Dupont Headers
  • 4x Steno PCBs

To do:

  • Assemble all components according to the pictures and instructions below.

  • Diodes are directional, and the black band should be positioned over the white band drawn on the board.

  • The 3 diodes in the following picture should take as little space as possible below the board, so before soldering please bend diode legs as shown.

  • The 3-pins connectors should be mounted below the boards. Please note that Left Vowels and Right Vowels board are identical.
  • The short leg of the LED should be soldered to the left pin, corresponding to the flat part of the LED symbol drawn on the PCB.

Step 3 – Assemble Left-Right Cable

Parts:

  • 1x Alarm Cable White 12 Core 1,1 m
  • 24x Female Dupont Crimp
  • 4x 6 pins Dupont Crimp Housings

To do:

  • Strip the white insulation from the 4-5 centimeters / 2 inchs.
  • You can optionally roll the wire around a 6-10 mm rod to give it a spring shape.

  • Strip 2 mm of insulation from the colored wires and crimp the female crimps with the help of a plier or a dupont crimping tool.
  • Put the female crimps in the 6x 5x crimp housings, making sure to follow the same wire order on both ends.

Step 4 – Glue Number Bar Spacer

Parts:

  • 2x Number keys
  • 2x Bar Button Spacer

To do:

  • Glue with super glue as shown in the following picture.
