XML-Compare v0.02 Test-XML-Compare v0.02 ====================== These two modules help enable you to check if two XML documents are semantically the same. Some other modules try this but don't check namespaces. These modules check that the namespaces of each element (if defined) even if they are mapped to different prefixes. The XML::Compare module export the same(), is_same() and is_different() functions. The latter two return true or false (but no reason why) whereas the former returns true but throws an exception containing reasoning information if different. The latter _could_ be used as an assert statement in your code. The Test::XML::Compare modules enable you to use is_xml_same() and is_xml_different() functions in your unit tests as you would usually use Test::More et al. EXAMPLE XML COMPARISON ====================== For example, the following two documents should be considered semantically equal: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> <message xmlns="urn:message" type="simple"> <!-- comment node --> <content>Hello, World!</content> </message> <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> <msg:message xmlns:msg="urn:message" type="simple"> <!-- comment node --> <msg:content>Hello, World!</msg:content> </msg:message> Currently, far more complicated tests are being performed but this gives a small example of how different XML documents might be considered semantically the same. INSTALLATION ============ To install this module type the following: perl Makefile.PL make make test make install DEPENDENCIES ============ This module requires these other modules and libraries: XML::LibXML (>= 1.70) Test::Simple (Test::More/Test::Builder -- core) AUTHOR, COPYRIGHT AND LICENCE ============================= Written by Andrew Chilton: * firstname.lastname@example.org * email@example.com Hacked on by Sam Vilain: * firstname.lastname@example.org * email@example.com This software development is sponsored and directed by New Zealand Registry Services, http://www.nzrs.net.nz/ The work is being carried out by Catalyst IT, http://www.catalyst.net.nz/ Copyright (c) 2009, NZ Registry Services.
