Ubuntu Workstation LTS

Abstract

This script will convert an Ubuntu LTS distribution to Workstation by removing unessecary packages for workstation purposes.

Introduction

Ubuntu LTS is used by hundreds of thousands of people in the business and government sectors (developers, IT, labs, manufacturing etc). Most of the time, IT managers and sysadmins will uninstall packages and customize the Desktop version of Ubuntu, to fit their need. This is because Ubuntu Desktop comes with tons of preinstalled stuff that are unnecessary for workstation environments.

Personally I use this script to remove the packages mentioned below, to provide a better and clean experinece on workstation environments.

Packages that will be removed

The following packages will be removed. Adittionally it will disable online suggestions in dash. So , clone the repo, open the script with your favorite editor and adjust accordingly to your needs.
