Is it possible to escape HTML code in the shell so that its actually interpreted by the browser instead of terminal?

For example, I want to set a bash PS1 prompt like this:
PS1="<div style="fontsize:large;">LARGESIZE:</div>"
in my ~/.profile

@kbrock

Are there thoughts on adding something like this?

Or does the conversation belong elsewhere like in term.js?

my use case was:

ls | sed -e 's/\(.*\)/<a href="rm \1">rm \1<\/a>/'
