Version number bump too small?

@gorhill: given the rewriting of the asset loader and the significant enhancements/improvements in the upcoming release, wouldn't something like 0.8.8.0 be more appropriate than 0.8.7.1 (which seems like a very minor update?)

I did not decide yet. It's why I referred to the version change as "interim" in the commit.
