Google requests no longer being blocked #868
First thing: disclose completely all the settings which differ from the default settings.
Does this mean that Google has paid the creators of uBlock to allow their ads to be shown
How convenient that only Google should be unblocked by such an incident though, right?
If you are going to freely throw that kind of innuendos around, let me counter with this:
How convenient would be FUD thrown around by someone working [1] for a company which offers the following services:
- Online Marketing
- Google AdWords
- Banner Ad Campaigns
- Blog & Forum Marketing
- Press Releases
- Email Marketing
Fact: uBlock runs counter to the interests of the company for which you work.
[1] As per your Github page
Does this mean that Google has paid the creators of uBlock to allow their ads to be shown, just like allegedly paid AdBlock Plus for the same reasons, or is this just a huge bug that only affects Google and that only I noticed? Or, am I missing something?
considering uBlock's existence is predicated on AdBlock selling out to Google, I wouldn't exactly say it's paranoia to simply ask such a question.
By the way, µBlock isn't just ABP without "acceptable ads" — that would be Adblock Edge.
µBlock is written from scratch with a conscious focus on efficiency and customizability.
I had a legitimate concern
No you didn't. If you actually did have real concerns, as a "software engineer" with suspicions that "uBlock's devs are paid by Google", you would have actually be eager to provide specific technical details to confirm your suspicions. There was nothing beyond vague claims of "uBlock does not block something", and when asked for details, all the claimed issues suddenly vanishes.
To conclude, please use the latest µBlock (it seems like you're using 0.8.6.0 from what I can tell from your screenshot).
