What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Play two music files which should go into one another seamlessly 2. 3. What is the expected output? What do you see instead? The two files should go into one another without a gap.
I hear a gap between the two files What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? 1.0.0 Windows XP. Please provide any additional information below. I checked the following formats:
WAV, APE, FLAC, OGG, M4A, MP3. Neither of them is gapless.

Hi

I can confirm this bug on version 1.01 under Linux.
A gap can be heard between each flac or ogg files.
I'm using OSSV4 on Linux boxes.
This bug didn't exist on initial 0.6 I tried on Debian Squeeze.
Now, I can confirm I have the bug on :
Linux Mint Lisa/generic kernel (with OSSV4, Gsettings and Gconf sinks) with Clementine version 1.0.1
Debian Squeeze (with both OSSV4 and GCONF sink) with Clementine version 1.0.0
Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with version 1.0.1 .
For information : uninstalling gstreamer-bad plugins on Linux Mint hasen't changed anything.

Anyway, thanks for the fantastic work on this software, which remains my fav player !

This is an old issue which seems not to have been addressed properly. I prepared a 15 sec long piece of music which I cut into 7 unequal pieces (ranging from 1 to 3 secs) and I encoded it into 7 formats: WAV, lossless: APE, FLAC, WAVPACK, lossy: MP3, M4A (Nero) and OGG.
Neither of them is played back gaplessly by Clementine.
I checked other programs. The commandline programs ogg123 plays OGG and FLAC, mpg123 plays back MP3 correctly. MPlayer does not play any format gaplessly.
Audacious plays back WAV, APE, FLAC, OGG correctly, MP3 and M4A are not perfectly gapless, although much better than Clementine.
Foobar2000 under Wine plays all formats perfectly.
And finally I checked with Banshee, which - like Clementine - uses the Gstreamer engine. All the formats - except MP3 and M4A - were perfectly gapless. So this proves that the problem lies not with Gstreamer, but with Clementine. In Clementine gapless playback is not - or not properly - implemented.
I uploaded the short pieces with which I tested gapless playback to rapidshare (6,1 MB) if anyone wants to test it: https://rapidshare.com/files/1494370453/Gapless_trial.7z All this on openDUSE 11.4 and Windows XP SP3. So this is not only a Windows issue.

I too am having this issue with 1.0.1 on Arch Linux, I'm running KDE with GStreamer backend, I've removed gstreamer0.10-bad-plugins, but that didn't help.

I have this on Windows XP SP3 too (1.0.0 and 1.0.1).

The issue isn't present in 0.7. I don't think it's just playback between songs either, when I double click a song on my play list there's a similar gap before the song starts to play.

I'm also confirming this on Windows 7 64-bit. Version 1.0.1 (don't know about older versions). Whether the files are local or on a network makes no difference. WinAmp plays the files properly (i.e. no gap).

I recently installed Clementine 1.0.1 on Linux Mint 12 (Main Edition 64-Bit). I used the .deb file here for Ubuntu 11.10 (since that is what LM12 is based on). I also have experienced a pause when playback should be gapless. This has happened on FLAC files. I haven't tested any other format.

I believe this problem to extend past Windows as indicated by the many comments. Can the ticket be changed to reflect all platforms and to include Clementine v1.0.1?

Clementine 1.0.1 running Debian testing/unstable - WAVs/FLACs are not gapless, even with the latest GStreamer 0.10. Banshee is gapless, so the issue is not the now-fixed GStreamer regression. And I know well that I shouldn't expect MP3s to be gapless - this is definitely a problem affecting lossless files.

Any chance of this being fixed before the next release? Clementine is otherwise fantastic, but this is a serious obstacle for me, and I suspect for many others who need gapless playback on a number of albums. Thanks!

Confirmed on Ubuntu 12.04 x64, Clementine 1.0.1 installed from the repositories with standard dependencies also from repos. Tested with FLAC files only, but the other comments suggest if I tried other formats the experience would be the same. Otherwise a pretty nice piece of software!
