There must be a setting missing in you config file.
The setting is:
{
"version": "0.3.0",
"installed": true,
"database": {
"uri": "mongodb://localhost/calipso"
},
"server": {
"name": "Calipso",
"url": "http://localhost:3000",
"modulePath": "./modules",
"themePath": "./themes",
"cluster": {
"workers": "",
"restartWorkers": true,
"maximumRestarts": "1"
},
"events": {
"maxListeners": "500"
},
"loginPath": "",
"authentication": {
"password": true,
"migrate2pbkdf2": true,
"facebookAppId": "",
"facebookAppSecret": "",
"googleClientId": "",
"googleClientSecret": "",
"twitterConsumerKey": "",
"twitterConsumerSecret": ""
}
},
.
.
.
It's supposed to default to true but maybe somehow it got set to false on your site.
I am sorry.
Thanks
Andy

Hmmm, if the value is not there it will correctly default to true. I just tested it by completely removing the "authentication" section.
I wonder what's going on.

What's your normal upgrade procedure?

when i upgrade, i just do the following step : 1. npm install 2 vmc update appName
my cloudfoundry url is https://nupthale.cloudfoundry.com, i reinstall it so it;s normal now, i am not sure what 's wrong with it now , next time i 'll check the config file ,thanks .

If you're using vmc you might want to use the git clone instead. The npm
install assumes you're using npm install -g and 'calipso site '
and then using vmc on .
Thanks

This should now work. Also:
For deployments like cloudfoundry or nodejitsu we now support MONGO_URI.
If this environment variable is set then it will not use a config file but store the config in the mongodb.
This makes upgrades and deployments a lot easier.
The log file will output an installation password which needs to be pasted on the site the first time to make sure nobody else starts setting up your installation.
