One of the VTA's goals is to do pedestrian network analysis. We started with tagging sidewalks to highways but we will probably go in the direction of adding sidewalk geometries instead.

We will make a tasking manager public for this project.

A tasking manager has been created for this project. But I realized there is very decent sidewalk data for a number of different cities in the county. First step will be importing these cities in an orderly, community responsible fashion. We are working on this at the VTA. More details to come.

I created an import project for San Jose:

It's super fun!

Stage 1:

Stage 2:

  • Set up a project and add sufficient crossings to the network

Stage 3:

  • Attain sufficient mapillary coverage of the area, especially where sidewalks appear incomplete.
  • Ground truth and check sidewalks, crossings.
  • Figure out computational ways to determine gaps in the San Jose network

Sidewalks have been finished and I consider them valid. I'm finishing up the setup for the Crossings Import.
