Is there a possibility to have an option to display icon-only: always | when inactive | none?
Do you mean to replace the timer label with an icon? If timer is near the clock it sure can be confusing... I think there could be an option to show just minutes, maybe like "25m"... or we could remove the indicator, move timer toggle to accessibility menu and make it more as an GTK+ app, like in this mockup: https://live.gnome.org/Design/Apps/Potential/BreakTimer
My idea was to make it show just an icon, and move the timer to the popup menu. But the GTK idea is looking more appealing now. :P
BTW, you don't have to have a switcher anywhere(especially not in Accessibility, people usually disable that). You could follow the mockups and put an icon down at the bottom with a simple button 'Start'.
I would suggest the option of using a visual timer instead of digits. A interactive icon, like a small progress bar or a circular progress indicator. Or a changing color.
Thanks @eldelacajita for your suggestion. It's already done in master branch, see #156. I'll close both tickets once this feature is released.
That is a great solution, indeed. Thank you!
Yes, your suggestion for a circle in https://cloud.githubusercontent.com/assets/1135423/4603978/15661b7e-5181-11e4-93a3-81d510424420.png is very nice. Makes the screen more quiet and prevent people for mistaking the pomodoro timer for the actual time. 👍
It's released for GNOME 3.14 and 3.16.
