Using CometD with Salesforce for 1-1 messaging

Description
Will there be any updates to permit use of CometD in Salesforce in the future? I've only seen Salesforce permit use of a UMD file whereas the newest release is ESM. I am currently working on a real-time 2-way chat - sms feature. Has anyone found or know of a workaround? For the moment I have it built using 7.0.14 but realize this is now unsupported.

Best would be for SalesForce to update their CometD usage to a recent and unmodified version.

Reaching out to SalesForce and applying a little pressure about these issues can be a way to get them to update their CometD usage.

Hi @sbordet,

I reached out to Salesforce and they wanted to know 2 things:

• Would 8.0 ever be built out in UMD, or is it going to stay in ESM for future updates?
• Is there an email address from CometD/ Webtide that I can loop into conversations with their product development team?

They mentioned the update is being elevated to look into the update from UMD to ESM and potentially find a solution.

It will stay in ESM format.
There are out there ESM-to-UMD converters, but ESM have been introduced in 2015 with widespread support since 2017-2018.
