Hi everyone,
We’re introducing From Campus to Community to celebrate the work our GitHub Campus Experts are doing and to share the stories behind their events and experiences. Over the next few weeks, you’ll see posts from a small group of Campus Experts who will be reflecting on recent hackathons, meetups, and workshops they have organised, as well as sharing insights from those who have attended or spoken at larger conferences.
This pilot was created in response to feedback from many of you who wanted more opportunities to connect with others, learn from their experiences, and gain practical insight into what it takes to plan or speak at student and tech events. These posts are a chance to do just that. Ask questions, exchange ideas, and find inspiration for your own projects. You might want to know how someone prepared for their first conference talk, what tools they used to plan their event, or what challenges they encountered along the way.
If you are thinking about hosting your own event or preparing to speak at one, explore our community resources below on organising tech meetups or hackathons, and preparing for conference talks.
This pilot is a way for us to learn what kind of content you find most valuable and what kinds of discussions we focus on in the future. It is also a chance for our Campus Experts to develop their skills in communication, event planning, and reflection, while helping others learn from their experiences. Most of all, it is an opportunity for everyone here to connect more closely and learn from one another.
