I'm trying to install phpunit or php-cs-fixer globally, I get this error message every time:

composer global require fabpot/php-cs-fixer:dev-master
[UnexpectedValueException]
RecursiveDirectoryIterator::__construct(vendor/composer/7e7ebf28/symfony-Fi
nder-4a0fee5/.gitignore,vendor/composer/7e7ebf28/symfony-Finder-4a0fee5/.gi
tignore): The directory name is invalid. (code: 267)

I'm on a windows 7 (64-bit) machine.

Note: Installing PHPUnit in a project through the composer.json works fine.

It worked for me with Windows 8.1 (32 bit, VirtualBox) and XAMPP.

PS. I know that's a 1 year old issue but it's still open.

Sorry I just noticed this today, ironically I just solved this issue for myself about 30 minutes ago. I needed to run composer in an elevated command prompt. That fixed the issue for me. It looks like the git clone command could not created the vendor folder in my user directory. So this is not even a composer issue.
