Installation

  1. Download the latest release of the Computes CLI and Daemon.

  2. Get a license key for the computes daemon

  3. Install Docker and have it run in the background. See How We Use Docker for more information.

  4. Install IPFS and run the IPFS daemon with pubsub enabled. We recommend you set up a private IPFS network, but it is not required.

    #!/bin/bash
    ipfs daemon --enable-pubsub-experiment
  5. In another shell, run the computes-daemon: (the COMPUTES_QUEUE_SEED can be anything you'd like, this will be the seed for your work queue and must be the same on all machines that want to access the queue)

    #!/bin/bash
    env COMPUTES_LICENSE_KEY=key COMPUTES_QUEUE_SEED=seed-value COMPUTES_NAMESPACE=my-unique-namespace ./computes-daemon run
  6. In a third shell, use the computes-cli to interact with computes

    #!/bin/bash
    ./computes-cli queue dump
    #> This should print the latest state of the global work queue
