Projectplan.net is an Open Source, cross-platform desktop application for designing and creating project plans. It is built to automate many of the tasks necessary for good project design, as detailed in Righting Software. However, it can be also used as a free and simple desktop alternative to Microsoft Project for project planning and tracking.

The tool is available as both a desktop application and a command-line application. The desktop application is written in Avalonia UI and runs cross-platform (Windows, Linux and MacOS).
While projectplan.net can help to simplify the process of project design, it is not a substitute for learning or understanding the techniques that are involved. Using it without a basic understanding of project management will only allow you to produce bad project plans more quickly!
