Plugin handles beginning with 'u' can't display custom element types #2826

Description

Weird one. I've found that setting elementType in the templates causes a JS syntax error if the plugin handle begins with the letter u.

The following error is shown:

SyntaxError: malformed Unicode character escape sequence

It looks like this is because \u represents a unicode character.
