For sites that have reviews, it automatically tries to do a gravatar lookup which is problematic for a couple of reasons

  1. If there is a problem with the gravatar website then calls to this site result in any product page having reviews timing out

  2. Not all store owners want to display gravatar images even if they have reviews

Multiple sites that are displaying reviews on product pages are having problems with this today - the connection is not made to gravatar and so the page times out
