#ButtonOS Features

No Installation Needed

ButtonOS runs straight from a Linux Live CD. Just burn a ButtonOS CD, insert it into any computer, boot from the CD, and you're off and running with a lightweight web browser.

No Local Saving

Since ButtonOS runs only in RAM, everything you do is erased once the computer is restarted, or when a new session is started (by clicking the "X" in the top right until all windows disappear).

Low Minimum Requirements

We made ButtonOS to run on old PCs that don't get much love anymore. Our minimum requirements are a Pentium III processor and only 256MB of RAM.

Read-Only Nature

ButtonOS uses a read-only filesystem to ensure malicious code doesn't hang around if it manages to get through. If you burn ButtonOS to a CD, you have the additional security of the CD being read-only as well.

Excellent Security

ButtonOS is based on Debian Linux, and has been proven secure in the high-priority places like the stock exchange and banking industries.
