Latest version of wordpress and using geo mashup beta

I currently use geo tagging for photos taken on my Nokia mobile, I can then
post these images dirctly to my blog using lifeblog

would it be possible to have a sidebar map that shows the location of my
photos using the data stored in the image file ??

thanks

I'll make this a feature request, sure. I know it's possible to read the
location
from the EXIF header of a geo-located image. I would also have to extend Geo
Mashup a
bit to be able to add located attachments to a map.

Hi dylan

This would be the 'icing on the cake'.
I tested mobypicture.com (iframe with shortcode in wordpress - but photos are
linked
back to mobypictures...) before I found geo-mashup and this would be a great
extension to the already 'formidable' plugin.

Look forward to it with anticipation and thanks.

No progress yet, though I have one client with some interest in it. I'll post
any advances when they are made.

I have a ton of images with EXIF geo tagged coordinates.

Does geo mashup only accept decimal geo tag format, or can it use the EXIF
format too ?

I found at least that I can export the EXIF geo tags in decimal using exiftool
like this:

exiftool -csv -gpslatitude# -gpslongitude# *.jpg>out.csv

however this sometimes produces decimal values with greater than 7 digits after
the decimal point. eg -23.61133,-46.6748366666667

Does Geo Mashup accept such long numbers or must I truncate them ?

Geo Mashup will accept more digits after the decimal, but they'll be truncated
internally.

Has there been any progress on this issue? I've been looking for a plugin that
will let me create a global map of all geo-located images on my site, ideally
with a link in the info box to link back to the original post. Is this a
possibility using geo mashup? If not, is there any modification I can make to
accomplish what I want? Thank you very much!

I haven't been able to implement this yet, but I'd still be very open to
contributions.

As before, I'm exporting the geo-tagged data from the image and then importing
that data into the db using a custom import/export tool. It's not a very clean
way of doing it, but it works.

I did see there was a wp plugin for EXIF data on import but any such plugin
would presumably need to be customised to make it place the geo-data in the
geomashup table.

If another plugin supports http://codex.wordpress.org/Geodata, the "Copy
Geodata Meta Fields" setting would take care of adding it to geo mashup.

Err, but wouldn't that mean you end up having a duplication of geo data ?
