What OS?

  • Windows
  • Mac
  • Linux (Which distro?)

Description of issue

For now, smart response is useful in some scenarios. However, if we use script to describe the response, it will make it more powerful. AFAIK, xcap uses TCL to control the response. I think for nowadays, Lua may be a better selection.

How about the advice? :-)

Smart responses could use a lot of work throughout Packet Sender.

I want to avoid adding a programming language. Part of the appeal of Packet Sender is how easy it is to use. Instead, I think it would be better if the macro system was improved (such as allowing more than 5, allowing partial-matching, adding a regex flag, etc). There is a lot of potential for improvement and still keeping it easy to use.

For power users that want to code, I think improving the capability of the command line interface would better serve them. They can then use any scripting language they want.
