We already have integrated our platform with Slack's Single Sign-On and chatbots. However, we want to be able to support other and potentially multiple community platforms.

Mattermost is currently being tested as an open source platform connecting participants of the community hackathons. Hubot support is a relatively straightforward issue to connect our sodabot. However, since Mattermost does not provide a SSO service, it would be a question of choosing one of their supported providers, e.g. GitLab, and ensuring that it works with Dribdat.

We have also recently started to work with RocketChat. SSO through Discourse would be very welcome as well. GitHub and GitLab are well recognized in the development community. The questions are:

  • Which integrations make the most sense to our users?
  • Do mechanisms are there to provide integration?
  • What barriers are there to implementation?

Basically, the task is to research the options, suggest which route would be most straight forward, and implement the integration. See also #118
