In the current version the LIKE button has been replaced with JOIN. It could still be nice for people to thumbs up each others projects. However, since this has been abused in the past, make this possible only for logged in users, and implement a CAPTCHA. Alternatively, look into ways of integrating with other platforms (e.g. social media / saythanks).

Then, of course, we need a High Score page (revamped search result?) with the top Boosted / Voted / Completed projects, filterable by event or keyword.

The boost activity type is a step in this direction, though currently still not usable. There is probably a Flask module for this out there.

A workaround to enable public voting is to add an externally hosted widget to the community code. Try Isso, ReplyBox, Remark42 and utterances. We've used Disqus and FastComments in the past.

Should this be just a toggle on the event page? A server setting like web analytics #162 ?

In #260 we add the ability for admins to add awards to projects. This issue would be mostly resolved by instructions of how to integrate 3rd party integrations: I currently don't see public voting or commenting as a core feature.
