As I have seen a couple of posts asking for something like this in the past, and in dire need of it in my current project also, I thought I would re-raise this issue in this new location.
This installer has been a fantastic help throughout our projects however it would be great if some kind of visual difference could be made between required and selected components e.g. just greying out the check boxes and text.
Another handy option would be the ability to group a load of components under one check box (a kind of tree hierarchy) so that a whole bunch of features can be selected/deselected in one go.

Not sure if these are already available and I've just missed them, but they would be some very useful features.
Thanks for all your hard work.

For reference, here are similar feature requests on codeplex:

Add an option to disable selection of components entirely
https://dotnetinstaller.codeplex.com/workitem/1761

Add support for component-based dependencies
https://dotnetinstaller.codeplex.com/workitem/4883

I agree, these would be great. Looking forward to someone to contribute!

Do explore htmlInstaller, that could probably let you do CSS on those selectors and skin things a lot further.
