Clip selected text

I want to select text on a page, then hit the button and clip only that (properly markdown formatted, of course).

I've worked out how to do this (https://stackoverflow.com/a/5084044/304786) but the UX needs a little bit of thinking.

For example, when I click the button and get the parsed selection, should I also apply the frontmatter template? Does it make sense to do that? Should I potentially provide a second set of templates for selections?
Also, should I put a button somewhere to select the whole document? Or is it okay to have the user just click off their selection and click the button again? Either way, should I display a notification that the extension grabbed selected text only?
