rjack-jetty

Description

A gem packaging of the Jetty Web Server for JRuby:

  • Provides all common jetty server jars and some optional jars like, -util, -rewrite, -continuation

  • jetty-client (via require rjack-jetty/client)

  • javax.servlet 3.0.0

  • A Jetty::ServerFactory for simple programmatic server setup in ruby

  • A set of Jetty::TestServlets containing a SnoopServlet and PerfTestServlet (implemented in Java)

  • A jetty-service bin script for easy testing from the command line

Note that JSP support is provided separately in the companion jetty-jsp gem.

factory = RJack::Jetty::ServerFactory.new
factory.port = 8080

factory.set_context_servlets( '/', '/*' => Jetty::TestServlets::SnoopServlet.new )
server = factory.create
server.start
server.join

Requirements

  • See the Jetty Versions table for details on minimum Java version requirements. Note however that as of 9.3.0.RC1, and despite the current state of this document, Java SE 8 is required.

  • To load webapps with JSPs, the rjack-jetty-jsp gem must be loaded.

  • Jetty will log to SLF4J if loaded. The jetty-service script will attempt to load rjack-logback, and thus rjack-slf4j, if available.
