This issue is a merger of Trac tickets #37, #110 and #137 (the latter was closed as a dupe for #110).

In short: We need functionality to specify productions' relations to each other - for graphics used in productions (much like our soundtrack functionality today), for productions that are remixes of others (think of the "pirated demo competition" at certain parties or remixes of soundtracks), but most importantly for Demopacks - prominent productions of the early amiga and atari scenes.

Quote from Trac; "Me and Gasman had discussions about this at Revision off-list, if memory serves. We agreed that we'll implement this (post-launch) as relations between productions, and that that in turn would allow us to cover both "inspired by", remix and "featured on pack"/"this pack contains" situations."

I know for a fact that Lotek and Saga has had inquiries about such functionality since launch, and that I would very much like it myself, to aid in the cataloging of packs.

I personally think this is one of the most important open tickets at the moment. Since our launch I was asked by a handfull of people of we have such a function. There are many demos, intros and tools hidden inside of packs and diskmags that also need to be entered into demozoo to make demozoo even better and even more complete. Not having this function for me is like stepping onto the gas with an activated handbreak. I really want to go forward and decrypt whats on all those packs I posted.

I think basically we already have this function with the "add a soundtrack listing". It shouldn't be too complicated to do something like "add a pack listing". So what does Gasman say? :)

Gasman says yes :-) With the new layout / 'add more info' button, we've overcome the main barrier to this, which was "finding a way to incorporate this without adding more clutter to the page" - so there's a clear path to adding this now.

Packs now implemented in e252b94 (and related commits). Leaving this ticket open for 'remix of' / 'inspired by'-type relations... on further consideration, they're not quite the same thing (they don't have a defined ordering, and they're not tied in to a particular prod type) and would be better served with a different interface.

This is one of the other more important features imho... Building for example a geneology of "Original music" and all covers/remixes and so on... I wonder if it's more complicated (e.g. more work) than the packs?

One instance where a user has gotten creative, and simply credited the author of the tune it derives from: https://demozoo.org/music/30373/

Relating separate graphics entries would be really useful.
