  1. Updates tracking and fingerprinting domains for friends2follow

    disconnectbot committed Feb 5, 2020
Friends2Follow updated its privacy policy to make clear it does not engage in tracking/fingerprinting on their root domain: friends2follow.com, as defined by Disconnect. Specifically, they state: “Friends2Follow does not collect, retain or share any personally identifiable information. This includes both unique user identifiers, as well as IP addresses, except for the limited purpose of fraud prevention and never to create user profiles. User IP addresses may be correlated across domains if fraud is detected, for the limited purpose of checking against external fraudulent IP blacklists.”

Friends2Follow’s new tracking/fingerprinting domains (in their policy under Friends2Follow Widgets") added in this commit are tracking.friends2follow and antifraudjs.friends2follow.com.

  1. removes Viral Loops as a fingerprinter and tracker

    patjack committed Jan 28, 2020
Viral Loops updated its public policy to make clear it does not track or engage in fingerprinting. Specifically, they state: "When our widgets and snippets are installed on third party websites, we apply rate-limit tactics based only on the IP address of the visitor, in order to prevent our public API from being abused. These IP addresses are saved in temporary storage that expires after 1 minute. In case our public API is being abused, we reserve the right to collect and process the offending IP address(es) to protect our customers and systems. Otherwise, Viral Loops does not collect, retain or share any personally identifiable information gathered on sites or apps not owned by Viral Loops. This includes both unique user identifiers and IP addresses. Viral Loops does not use the domain viral-loops.com for fingerprinting."

  2. Removes Olark as tracker

    patjack committed Dec 6, 2019
Olark updated its public policy to make clear it does not engage in tracking as defined by Disconnect on its domains olark.com, api.olark.com, assets.olark.com, nrpc.olark.com, and static.olark.com. Specifically, they state: “Olark’s embedded chat (and specifically the domains olark.com, api.olark.com, assets.olark.com, nrpc.olark.com, and static.olark.com) does not collect, retain, or share data regarding a particular Customer End User’s activity across multiple websites or applications that are not owned by Olark. Olark does assign each user a unique user ID within the scope of an individual website, but does not collect or retain IP or any information except information users volunteer (for example, an email or credit card number) which would allow Olark to identify the same particular user on more than one website. For the purposes of abuse and fraud prevention, Olark may use Customer End User IP during a chat session to block fraudulent IPs, trolls, and prevent other abuse; this IP information will be destroyed after the session, including logs destroyed after 7 days.”

Updated definition of tracking to account for entities like DigiTrust, which enable tracking by other services.

“Tracking is the collection of data regarding a particular user's activity across multiple websites or applications that aren’t owned by the data collector, and the retention, use or sharing of that data. We will also classify as trackers domains which collect, share, retain, or use data to enable tracking by other services."
