I tried to remove a system app (actually a spyware installed by the Chinese manufacturer) named com.android.service, from an Android 6.0 smartphone. OpenAPK complained with the error message:

There was an error and the selected action was not successfully completed.

Actually it seems that the App was partially removed: the .apk file was removed while the .odex file remains. The files to be removed are:

/system/priv-app/com.android.service-9002_0711/com.android.service-9002_0711.apk
/system/priv-app/com.android.service-9002_0711/oat/arm/com.android.service-9002_0711.odex

According to SuperSU popup messages, the .apk file is correctly indentified and removed, no traces of removing the .odex file.

I looked through the code and in theory it should have removed all the files, I will have to look into this a bit more. Android seems to have special rules for all kinds of apps and files. I just found out recently that even if an app is not in the system partition it will have issues with the extract action when it is a paid app. Verbose error messages should definitely be added soon.
