If you resize the float window (make it taller), does it uncover your content? If so, it sounds like an anchoring issue with your content. You may be interested in adjusting the DefaultFloatWindowSize on the DockPanel (available on the designer).

There were many SF.net threads regarding the unexpected size changed caused by dock->float state change

http://sourceforge.net/projects/dockpanelsuite/forums/forum/402316/topic/1583726
http://sourceforge.net/projects/dockpanelsuite/forums/forum/402316/topic/3923586
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3502759/weifenluo-dock-panel-suite-float-windows-using-their-design-size

My interest is the patches mentioned in 1583726. They were very old (probably to 1.* release), but they seem to show an interesting approach.

If we look at Visual Studio 2010 and 2012, whenever a drag is performed to make a docked window floating, its original size is kept. In that case, this issue reported should not appear.

If possible, DPS should do the same as Visual Studio. This requires further investigation.
