Jira issue originally created by user hlgrrnhrdt:

UUID_SHORT() is available since MySQL version 5.1

Comment created by @ocramius:

[~hlgrrnhrdt] what's the compatibility with other platforms? Because if this is just a MySQL thing, then you'd better PR against https://github.com/beberlei/DoctrineExtensions/tree/master/lib/DoctrineExtensions/Query/Mysql

Comment created by hlgrrnhrdt:

I believe it is MySQL specific.

I guess it won't be an option to replace UUID() with UUID_SHORT() in the MySqlPlatform in future versions of Doctrine DBAL. It is much better (performance vice) for primary keys.

Comment created by @ocramius:

As stated before, I suggest handling this in DoctrineExtensions.

Since you confirming that it's MySQL specific, I'm marking this as "won't fix"
