AMD has found that this causes issues on driver version 23.7.1. Tellow tested this commit on Boot Camp (Nov 2022 drivers) and it still works there.
This hack was re-introduced in #7389. It was added because AMD drivers on Windows 8.1 didn't have a fix for the issue. We don't support Windows 8.1, and the fact that some AMD driver versions in 2018 had this fixed probably means all modern drivers already have it.
