Running a two node cluster on CentOS 6.5/Java 7/MySQL/20140314 Nightly Build - both nodes are on one physical server.
In prior versions, DOTSERVER would be set to the ROOT folder of the repo/folder containing dotcms. This allowed multiple instance to run on the same machine without specifically setting the DOTSERVER environment variable.
Now with the 3.0 distribution, DOTSERVER is always being set to ROOT because that is the name of the directory under tomcat where the app is deployed. This means that unless DOTSERVER is specifically set in the environment, that the second instance will fail to start up because the PID file with the ROOT name already exists.
