Describe the bug

According to this issue and this runtime list for .NET Core v7.0, linux-armv6 is supported. However, when I try to target it with dotnet publish, it fails.

To Reproduce

  1. Install .NET Core v7 SDK
  2. Create console app targeting net7.0
  3. Publish with dotnet publish -r linux-armv6

Exceptions (if any)

C:\Program Files\dotnet\sdk\7.0.100\Sdks\Microsoft.NET.Sdk\targets\Microsoft.NET.Sdk.FrameworkReferenceResolution.targets(135,5): error NETSDK1084: There is no application host available for the specified RuntimeIdentifier 'linux-armv6'.

Is this because linux-armv6 is a community supported RID but isn't in the shipped apphost packs, so one needs to be built via the installer https://github.com/dotnet/installer ?

This is a question for other people on the team so let's see what they say.

@richlander do you know how the community supported RIDs manage their own apphosts? This is not one of those produced in installer per Noah's comment above

See the following comment and subsequent comments from @directhex on what the state of this is and how to get it working: dotnet/runtime#7764 (comment)

Let's let Rich weigh in on whether we should hoist those instructions out of a runtime comment and into some documentation.
