Overview ======== oggplayer is an example of using the liboggplay API to write a simple video/audio player. It plays audio and video stored in an Ogg container and will eventually support all the formats that OggPlay suports. The intent is to use it as a test application for using liboggplay. Build ===== The build setup works under Linux and Mac OS X. On Windows I'm unsure what changes are needed. I'll look into this later. oggplayer requires a number of third party libraries. These include: libogg libvorbis libtheora liboggz libfishsound libsydneyaudio liboggplay libkate libtiger Boost C++ libraries SDL (for video display) Cairo (for libkate subtitle support) Pango (for libkate subtitle support) libsndfile (libfishsound uses this) In some cases it requires the latest svn versions of the Ogg libraries. To make things easier (for me) I've added git submodules for these libraries and I statically link to them. I use my own git mirrors for the submodules. When you first clone this repository you need to pull the submodules: $ git clone git://github.com/doublec/oggplayer $ git submodule init $ git submodule update To configure and build the third party libraries, change to the 'thirdparty' subdirectory and run 'build.sh'. After that run 'make' in the root of the oggplayer directory to build: $ cd thirdparty $ sh build.sh $ cd .. $ make Running ======= Pass the name of the ogg file you want to play on the command line: $ ./oggplayer music.ogg You can optionally use SDL's YUV to RGB conversion code, which may be faster than liboggplay's depending on hardware support. To use that pass the '--sdl-yuv' command line option: $ ./oggplayer --sdl-yuv video.ogg Why === Why write this? Mainly to provide another program that uses the same libraries as the Firefox media playback support. This allows me to test and track down bugs a bit easier. I've also followed a similar approach to the way Firefox does the decoding loop so I can track down a/v sync and other issues.
