It's time to make sure that those organizations and individuals who want to contribute financially can do so. Lots of orgs and individuals have indicated an interest.

  • Form a nonprofit to handle the finances. Localdev Foundation, a Colorado (US) Nonprofit.
  • Get a bank account for the nonprofit
  • Get D-U-N-S number for Localdev Foundation, required for Apple account, for notarization and signing on Apple
  • Create a website for Localdev Foundation (localdev.foundation)
  • Open Apple organization account (for signing binaries) for Localdev Foundation
  • Figure out the GitHub org where DDEV is going to live in permanently and clarify its control. Keep drud? Move to a new org?
  • Form an advisory group. Reopened Organize DDEV-Local Advisory Group #2057
  • Get GitHub Sponsors enabled
  • Reach out to all the orgs that have volunteered to support
  • Reach out to individuals who have offered to support
  • Working written explanation to users why it's reasonable to invest in DDEV workflow
  • Figure out use of DDEV trademark. Attribution, or assignment to new org, or whatever.
  • Disclosure of current financial needs (Newer test runners, annual costs for things like Apple, etc.)
  • Disclosure of future aspirational goals (GUI)
  • DDEV-specific twitter account. See if Fruition would allow @ddevhq to be used
  • Budget
    • General financial support
    • Test runners and testing resources (purchases, ongoing costs)
    • Conferences/travel
    • Other subscription costs (Apple/Windows developer maintenance)
    • 10% to upstream projects

Lots of work accomplished on this, moving on down the line to v1.20.

I expect nearly all the issues to be on the path to resolution in coming weeks. Also people are generously sponsoring me via rfay account.

This is all being worked very nicely by the Advisory Group and Budget Group, see https://github.com/drud/ddev/discussions/categories/ddev-advisory-group

I think we can close this one now!
