VM crash on Debian 13

Describe the bug
The JVM crashes when opening a specific dialog in eclipse. Other dialogs work.

To Reproduce

• download 4.38RC2 / Eclipse SDK
• unpack
• run eclipse with a new/temp workspace
• open Window/Preferences
• navigate to Java/Editor/Save Actions
• check "Perform the selected actions on save"
• check "Additional actions"
• click on "Configure..." -> CRASH

Expected behavior
No crash.

Environment:

1. Select the platform(s) on which the behavior is seen:

• • All OS
• • Windows
• • Linux
• • macOS

2. Additional OS info (e.g. OS version, Linux Desktop, etc)
   Debian GNU/Linux 13 (trixie)

3. JRE/JDK version
   Tested with multiple JDK versions. All crash:

• JRE version: OpenJDK Runtime Environment (21.0.9+10) (build 21.0.9+10-Debian-1deb13u1)
• JRE version: OpenJDK Runtime Environment Temurin-21.0.8+9 (21.0.8+9) (build 21.0.8+9-LTS)
• JRE version: OpenJDK Runtime Environment Temurin-25+36 (25.0+36) (build 25+36-LTS)

Version since
Eclipse or SWT version since when the behavior is seen [e.g. 4.23]
Tested with multiple eclipse/SWT versions. All crash:

• org.eclipse.swt_3.129.0.v20250221-1734.jar
• org.eclipse.swt_3.130.0.v20250528-1759.jar
• org.eclipse.swt_3.131.0.v20250820-1556.jar
• org.eclipse.swt_3.132.0.v20251124-0642.jar

Workaround (or) Additional context
Seems to be related to my upgrade to Debian 13. Did not crash on Debian 12 I think, but I can not verify right now.
Tested with multiple eclipse releases (4.35, 4.36, 4.37, 4.37 and 4.38RC2). All crash in the same way.

Usually there is either crash dump stack or at least some errors printed to console. Please provide that, as well as versions of gtk3 & webkit libraries on your system. Also please give a hint whether you are using X11 or Wayland.

You may be experiencing the same as in #1937 (comment) . Please check what is the im_module used and whether installing ibus fixes it.

GTK_IM_MODULE is unset on my system. Installing ibus fixed the issue. Thanks!

But I am not happy with the conclusion in this comment - this is undiscoverable for end users. Surely SWT could detect a missing dependency, no?

I am not happy with that conclusion either but can't come up with anything better.

It's not a clear missing dependency case. gtk-im-context-simple works in some (probably rare nowadays) cases, installing ibus is a valid workaround in many(most) cases but xim, fcitx, wayland, etc. are valid cases too. And it even hit a bug in Gtk itself.
Depending on whether one runs on X11 or Wayland some of these will be mandatory or totally invalid and etc.
I would very much welcome if someone can spend the time to investigate deep into why XFCE (second bug report) hits this problem while we had no reports from other DE users.
Any other improvement to the situation that someone will provide is more than welcome too.
