macOS dark theme color issues in 2025-12 M3

Steps to reproduce

From a fresh installation of Eclipse 2025-12 M3 for Eclipse Committer and clean workspace:

• Change the theme to dark and restart IDE.
• Open any workspace with editor tabs open, and then also Eclipse > Settings...

As you see, the colors for many elements are wrong, also depening of state (enabled/disabled, focused or not).

Tested under this environment:

• macOS 26.0.1 on Mac Mini Pro 2 (Aarch64)
• Eclipse IDE/Platform version 2025-12 M3, version 4.38

The color issue has been present since Milestone 1 of 2025-12, but was not present in Eclipse 2025-09 version 4.37.

And now I can reproduce it. The key part is this:

• When the dark theme is enabled go to the "Colors and Fonts" preference page and press "Restore Defaults".

This is what you'll see:

To reset the mess manually edit your workspace/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.runtime/.settings/org.eclipse.ui.workbench.prefs file and remove all color settings and restart.

And this is not just with the dark theme...

When the light theme is enabled go to the "Colors and Fonts" preference page and press "Restore Defaults".

Colors do not budge in Dark Theme. I can try to Reset Defaults but nothing happens. I get the same problems in Eclipse 2025-03, 2025-09 and 2025-12 M1-3. So I tested: To reset the mess manually edit your workspace/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.runtime/.settings/org.eclipse.ui.workbench.prefs file and remove all color settings and restart. And this worked for me! For all Eclipse versions. There is still an issue with the Reset Defaults colors though. That should “cure” the problem. That's because Reset Defaults is broken somehow. Perhaps related to 61cca8f?
