To report of numbers of 5xx responses from our Apache web servers.

This should give us much more visibility on the numbers of "Whoops" pages served by our site

You can still comment on this but given the number of complaints we had about "Whoops" pages we had today I thought it would be worth getting this up and running ASAP.

I suspect the ELB metric HTTPCode_Backend_5XX will give us this for free.

The Latency and RequestCount metrics look interesting too.

Yes. Good spot. This is much more useful

  • It aggregates across all servers
  • We already have history
  • It's not my wonky code

I'll revert these changes
