Easily organize windows without using a mouse.

## Important Note

**This project is not being actively maintained.** Unfortunately, after almost a decade of on-and-off development I can no longer dedicate the time needed to be a responsible maintainer of this project. Spectacle will remain available for download but please use at your own risk. The source code will continue to be free and open to anyone, so feel free to make Spectacle your own.

Thanks to all the folks that have made Spectacle the first app they install a new Mac! I'm sorry I couldn't serve you better.

## System requirements

Spectacle [0.8.6][1] is the last version to support Mac OS X 10.7; future releases will only support 10.9 or greater. Folks wishing to stay on 10.7 should download [0.8.6][1]. Those looking for a version of Spectacle that supports 10.6 can still download [0.7][2].

Oh no! I came here to see if there was a purchase/donate link somewhere, but instead found this commit!

This is terrible news. Thank you so much for this software. Do you think accepting donations might help continue the development?

Either way, with all due respect to your decision, thank you for this awesome application.

Oh man! I just got a new MacBook and step 3 on my "setup new Mac" list is "setup spectacle". So I went to the download link and saw the news :( I would be more than happy to donate if that makes a difference.

I do think you might be surprised to find the number of people who have adopted this application and would be willing to donate.

FYI, for anyone using BetterTouchTool, I created a gist for the presets I created to be able to mimic functionality.

Regarding alternatives, RectangleApp is open source, not to mention Spectacle has a number of forks (maybe someone else will take it up?).

Thanks for the great app! Best wishes!

Just tried this out @spacemunkay and gotta say that's a solid recommendation. Looking at the app, it seems like it's actually a better alternative to spectacle simply because, based on what the readme says, how it is implementing the keyboard shortcuts.

I've been a heavy user for a long time. Thank you very much for building Spectacle and maintaining it for so long, you will be missed!

I've been using spectacle from day one on OSX. I'm a long term user of suckless dwm (tiling WM), and so the OSX felt awkward and non-productive, but thanks to the Spectacle I was able to get my productivity to the same level. As a matter of fact I now think the idea of controlling windows from keyboard may be superior to the tiling. Thanks a lot for this wonderful piece of software and good luck!
