I’m a senior software engineer working at Sendcloud and living in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

Next month is packed: PyCon Greece, DjangoCon US (Chicago), New York and Yesglot. I just hope I remember to enjoy each one instead of constantly thinking about what’s next.

• I’ve been invited to speak at DjangoCon US 2025! It feels surreal. I was watching this conference on YouTube 10 years ago and now I get to be on stage. I’ll be polishing peaceful-postgresql to make it talk-ready, but with only 3 days after Greece to prepare, the pressure is on. Then again, pressure is a privilege.
• We've celebrated Django’s 20th birthday in Amsterdam. It was also the start of DjangoNL. I was worried the day before that no one would come, but we ended up with a nice group and even Django’s co-founder Adrian Holovaty joined us. I also met new friends and longtime friends from PyIstanbul and Hipo. I’m glad I found the courage to organize this and "better to do and forgive than not do and regret".
• I’ve released yesglot, a Django package designed to make translations effortless. I’m really proud of how it’s shaping up. I’ve already presented it at the Sendcloud Tech Meetup and will also be giving a talk on it at PyCon Greece 2025. Looking forward for it!
• I’m preparing to launch an enterprise-grade version of yesglot on yesglot.com, aimed at solving translation issues for both backend and frontend applications with smooth CI/CD. I’m currently deciding between HTMX + DaisyUI or React + Flowbite for the frontend. My goal is to launch quickly, without over-optimizing and secure my first paying customer.
• Running is going well when it doesn’t rain in Eindhoven! I’m following a "push–pull–run" workout routine and I ran 25 km last week. I want to continue the habit while I’m away.
• I published Nullable but not null and decided to post it on Hacker News. Suddenly, it took off —45 comments and 4500 unique visitors in just three days! Seeing my blog appear on the Hacker News homepage felt amazing and gave me a huge boost of motivation to keep writing. At the same time, I realized that several readers interpreted my arguments differently than I intended. This showed me that ideas that seem obvious to me may need clearer explanations when shared more broadly.
• Not much progress on the RestfulQL idea yet. It dropped a bit on my priority list, but I’m hoping to get back to it in October or November.
• Learning Dutch is difficult without daily practice. I have a presentation on September 4th, but I don’t feel confident enough to pass the first level.
• I’m excited to be traveling to Chicago and New York soon! I’ll be spending a week (6-12 September) in Chicago for DjangoConUS 2025 before heading over to New York (12-19 September). If you’ll be around, feel free to say hi or share any recommendations!
